Our house is up and ready...just needs a new owner.

That's Life...
Life continues to roll forward...despite how much we'd like to hold on to "that" moment a little longer it is a flash in time and then it's gone.
Some of the most important people in my life are in the middle of life transitions.
Our close friends just became parents to a beautiful baby boy.
We along with the rest of the world have started another school year.
My kids will soon be twelve and eight and five. They should still be babies.
My dear friend is sending another child off to college, leaving only two at home. He was five when we met him. Our favorite babysitter will also be going away to school for the first time. I swear she should still be twelve.
Another incredible student got married this summer.
Still others have been married for quite a while (we are old!) and have families of their own.
Families are thriving and many are not.
Some are fighting for their lives due to injury or illness, cancer or depression. Special, incredible, amazing people with a story to tell...with hopes and dreams and plans.
Loved ones are living out their last days, weeks, months or years. Some have passed away unexpectedly and others wait patiently for their dying breath.
With all of this I am continually reminded that life is precious. Life is a gift. We only get one today and that is all we can expect.
I recently dusted off my gratitude journal that I started a few years ago. I had set it aside at a busy time and forgotten to pick it up and write thanks. With it, I had forgotten to have gratitude for the little things in my life that bring great joy. Sadly there are months of those small moments missing from my journal. I read through the phrases that I had written (now close to 500 items) and it gave me glimpses of my life over the past two years...many moments that I had forgotten along with my journal. Some silly moments, many milestones, great successes, and even heartache. When I can find joy even in the difficult circumstances of life, giving thanks for the failures or tragedies...then I am truly thankful. Life is a gift. Give thanks.
